Key takeaways
- MobiLoud is an established managed service (since 2013) for ecommerce apps on Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and headless stacks.
- Its model is a one-time development and submission fee plus a monthly subscription; per its FAQ, the app can't stay live in the stores after you cancel.
- For hands-off help with ownership, combine WebViewGold's done-for-you setup – native projects you keep – with appsubmitter.io in your own accounts.
- Because MobiLoud publishes under your accounts, a replacement can ship as an update to the same listings. Release it before the old service ends.
Our recommended solution
Looking for a MobiLoud alternative? Meet WebViewGold
WebViewGold turns your website or web app into native iOS and Android projects for a one-time price – with push notifications, a native offline screen, deep links, a QR scanner, in-app purchases and more. You own the projects and publish in your own developer accounts. Built by our own team.
Why look for a MobiLoud alternative at all?
A MobiLoud alternative makes sense when you like the idea of a managed app but want to own what you pay for. MobiLoud runs your iOS and Android apps as an ongoing service. The closest ownership-friendly alternative is a native app template that is set up for you – WebViewGold's done-for-you setup – combined with a submission service such as appsubmitter.io.
MobiLoud itself is a serious option. Founded in 2013 and bootstrapped since, the company – Fifty Pixels Ltd, trading as MobiLoud – works as a remote team across the UK, Canada, Latin America and Europe. It turns existing websites into apps with a clear ecommerce focus: Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and custom or headless stacks. The product once marketed as "Canvas" is simply called MobiLoud today, although its WordPress plugin is still listed as Mobile App Canvas.
The service suits brands that want an app channel without building a mobile team. People look elsewhere for three reasons: cost over time, ownership and flexibility.
How MobiLoud works: setup fee, subscription, service
MobiLoud's pricing has two parts: a one-time app development and submission fee and a monthly subscription, with a discount for annual prepayment (as of October 2026). The Business plan includes an allowance of monthly active users, with usage billed above it; Enterprise is priced individually. There is no revenue share, and a free preview is available before you pay.
In return, MobiLoud does the work. It builds the apps, submits them under your own Apple Developer and Google Play accounts – registered as a business – and maintains them afterwards. Its documentation says the team takes care of the necessary adjustments after an Apple rejection. A typical launch takes six to eight weeks.
The feature set follows the ecommerce focus: push through your OneSignal account (Klaviyo on Enterprise), native tab navigation, deep links and universal links, sign-in with Apple, Google or Facebook, smart banners, multi-language and multi-currency support and app-only content. In January 2026, MobiLoud announced multi-storefront apps, staging environments and custom app screens.

Ownership: what stays with you if you cancel MobiLoud
This is the core difference between a managed service and a product you buy. MobiLoud's FAQ is unambiguous about cancellation: "the app can't remain live in the app stores". The platform behind the app remains MobiLoud's, and no source code handover is advertised. After the engagement ends, you can request an export of your app configurations and native build settings.
Some things do stay with you, because they live in your accounts: the store listings, ratings, reviews and install base. MobiLoud's pricing page notes that a later replacement can ship as an update to the same listing – which is what makes a switch possible without starting from zero.
An app built from a template you own works differently. With WebViewGold you buy the Xcode and Android Studio projects once; the compiled app is yours and keeps working whether or not you buy anything else. What you give up is MobiLoud's ongoing service – unless you hand that work to someone else, which is the route described further down.
MobiLoud vs. WebViewGold + appsubmitter.io vs. Median.co vs. Twinr
Four ways to get a store app for an online shop, as of October 2026. The first table covers money and ownership, the second the build and the publishing.
Money and ownership
| Option | Type | Pricing model | Source code | If you stop paying |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MobiLoud | Done-for-you managed service | One-time development and submission fee plus monthly subscription; usage billing above the active-user allowance | Not handed over; configuration export on request | The app can't remain live in the stores (FAQ) |
| WebViewGold + appsubmitter.io | App template with optional done-for-you setup, plus a submission service | One-time WebViewGold license (Regular or Extended), separate appsubmitter.io package | You own the Xcode and Android Studio projects | Nothing to stop – the app stays yours |
| Median.co | Hosted builder with optional publishing services | Paid per-app license and plugins; a plan for new builds after six months | Xcode and Android Studio source download | App keeps working; new builds need an active plan |
| Twinr | No-code builder with optional done-for-you services | Monthly or yearly subscription, tiered by app sessions | Not advertised (APK and IPA) | App deactivated from the next billing cycle (FAQ) |
Build and publishing
| Option | Platforms | Native features (examples) | Who publishes, whose account | Mac needed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MobiLoud | iOS, Android | OneSignal push, native tabs, deep links, social sign-in, multi-currency | MobiLoud, in your own business accounts | No |
| WebViewGold + appsubmitter.io | iOS, Android | OneSignal, Firebase or Pushwoosh push, Face ID, QR scanner, widgets, StoreKit and Play Billing | appsubmitter.io or you, in your own accounts | No with the done-for-you setup or Cloud Builder |
| Median.co | iOS, Android | Large plugin catalog: push, biometrics, scanning, IAP | You or Median's publishing team, in your accounts | Not for cloud builds |
| Twinr | iOS, Android | Push automations, native screens, Apple Pay and Google Pay, in-app review | Your own accounts; paid on-demand publishing | No |
Prices change too often to list, so compare the structure: a one-time cost plus a submission service on one side, recurring fees that grow with usage on the other. Over a few years, the structure matters more than the starting price.
App Store and Google Play risks for ecommerce wrapper apps
Shopping apps face their own mix of rules, whichever vendor builds them:
- Guideline 4.2 and catalogs. Stores start from a better position than most wrappers, because Guideline 4.2.2 begins: "Other than catalogs, apps shouldn't primarily be marketing materials, advertisements, web clippings, content aggregators, or a collection of links." The app still has to feel like an app – native navigation, push for order events, a smooth cart. Our article on Guideline 4.2 for WebView apps shows what reviewers check.
- Payments. For physical goods, Guideline 3.1.3(e) requires "purchase methods other than in-app purchase", such as Apple Pay or card entry – your normal checkout is right. Digital content is a different story; Guideline 3.1.1 for WebView apps explains where the line runs.
- Guideline 4.2.6. Apps from template services must be submitted by the content provider. With MobiLoud and with WebViewGold plus appsubmitter.io alike, the app goes out from the brand's own account; if an agency account is involved, read Guideline 4.2.6 for WebView apps.
- Guidelines 4.3 and 5.6. Many shops on the same platform can look alike, so make the app recognizably yours. Keep app-only content and promotions consistent with what the reviewer saw.
- Account deletion. If shoppers can create accounts in the app, both stores expect a deletion option, and Google also wants a web link – see the Google Play account deletion guide.
- Google Play spam rules. Wrapping your own shop is fine. The Webviews spam policy targets sites you don't own and affiliate traffic.
Our recommended alternative
WebViewGold: native iOS and Android apps from your website
Instead of building native features from scratch, start from WebViewGold. You get ready-made Xcode and Android Studio projects for your website, with native modules you switch on in the configuration:
- Push notificationsOneSignal or Firebase, for real, personal events
- Native offline screenNo browser error pages when the connection drops
- Native splash screenApp-like start instead of a loading web page
- Deep linksLinks open the right screen inside the app
- QR & barcode scannerDevice features the website alone can't offer
- In-app purchasesNative purchase flows where the store requires them
No tool guarantees an approval: Apple still judges what your app offers. Use the native features in your main user journey – our App Specialists review your WebViewGold app before it goes to the App Store.
When MobiLoud is the better choice
- You run a larger store without a mobile team and want one vendor accountable for building, submitting, OS updates and maintenance.
- You need commerce-specific integrations such as Klaviyo push on Enterprise or multi-storefront apps.
- You prefer operating costs to a project. A subscription that scales with active users can be easier to plan than a one-off build.
- You value a long track record. MobiLoud has done this since 2013 and says it has published more than 2,000 apps.
- You won't cancel. If the app is a permanent channel, the cancellation clause matters less than the service behind it.
The ownership-friendly managed route: WebViewGold done for you
If you want MobiLoud's convenience without its dependency, split the job between a product you buy and a service you book. Both come from our team: WebViewGold is our website-to-app product, and appsubmitter.io is our submission service. That is our disclosure – and the reason they fit together.
WebViewGold is a ready-made Xcode project in Swift plus an Android Studio project. With the done-for-you setup, our team sets the app up for you, so you never open Xcode. For a shop, the useful modules include:
- Push via OneSignal, Firebase or Pushwoosh – including your existing OneSignal account – for shipping updates, back-in-stock alerts and order events.
- Deep links and universal links so campaign links open the right product, plus App Links on Android.
- QR and barcode scanner for in-store lookups, loyalty cards or product codes.
- Face ID and Touch ID for quick re-login, a native share dialog for products and a native rating dialog instead of web pop-ups.
- Offline fallback instead of a browser error when the connection drops, and App Tracking Transparency support for campaign measurement.
You pay once for WebViewGold, own both projects and publish in your own developer accounts. No tool can promise an approval, but this setup gives reviewers a real app to assess. Explore WebViewGold and its done-for-you option.
Moving from MobiLoud to WebViewGold without losing your listings
- Check who controls the accounts. MobiLoud publishes under your Apple and Google accounts. Confirm that you are the Account Holder at Apple and the owner in Play Console, and note which access MobiLoud uses.
- Plan the configuration export. MobiLoud offers an export of app configurations and native build settings on request when the engagement ends. Request it in writing, and document menus, deep link rules and push settings yourself as well.
- Keep the identifiers. Build the WebViewGold apps with the existing bundle ID and package name. Your universal links file keeps working while team ID and bundle ID stay the same.
- Clarify the Android upload key. Ask who holds the upload keystore. If you can't get it, the account owner can request an upload key reset in Play Console – with Play App Signing, Google keeps the app signing key, so the app stays the same app.
- Carry over push and sign-in. Connect the WebViewGold app to the same OneSignal app. Sign in with Apple works – WebViewGold detects
appleid.apple.comautomatically. Google forbids its OAuth in embedded user-agents, so on iOS planASWebAuthenticationSessionor the native Google Sign-In SDK as custom code in the Xcode project, or offer email and password plus Sign in with Apple in the app; on Android, use Custom Tabs or Credential Manager. - Test, then release as an update through TestFlight and a Play testing track, with higher version numbers and review notes that describe the app.
- End the old service last. Since a canceled MobiLoud app can't stay live, agree the end date with MobiLoud so your listing never goes dark, then remove its access.
How appsubmitter.io helps – switching or staying
appsubmitter.io takes the store work off your desk: App Specialists set up code signing and CI/CD in your own accounts, prepare the store listings, the App Privacy details and the Data safety form, submit the apps and handle the communication with App Review and the Google Play review team. AI-powered pre-submission checks run first. Code changes aren't included – if your app needs any, we quote them upfront.
If you stay with MobiLoud, we can still help with what lives in your accounts – a second opinion on a rejection, a review of your privacy answers or refreshed store listings. If you switch, book appsubmitter.io for both platforms; your app doesn't need to be finished when you book. Not sure yet? Talk it through in a free consultation call.
Checklist: choosing your website-to-app route
- Read your contract: notice period, configuration export and what happens to the apps when you cancel.
- Confirm you are Account Holder in App Store Connect and owner of the Play Console account.
- List the app's features: push segments, deep links, sign-in methods, app-only content, languages and currencies.
- Ask who holds the Android upload keystore before you plan the switch.
- Reuse the bundle ID and package name so the new apps update the existing listings.
- Keep physical goods on your web checkout – Apple's in-app purchase is not allowed for them.
- Release the replacement as an update first; end the old service only after it is live.
