Key takeaways
- Two realistic routes: a Trusted Web Activity if your v0 app is already a solid PWA, or a WebView app with native modules such as WebViewGold for Android, made by our team.
- Serve /.well-known/assetlinks.json from your production domain with the Play app signing fingerprint – TWAs depend on it, and it shows Google that site and app belong together.
- Never ship a preview or generated vercel.app URL: they can show unfinished builds or a Vercel login, which reviewers experience as broken functionality.
- Google sign-in must leave the WebView, digital purchases need Google Play Billing, and new personal accounts must finish a 14-day closed test with 12 testers first.
Our recommended solution
Turn your v0 app into a real Android app with WebViewGold
WebViewGold wraps the v0 web app you already have in a native Android Studio project and adds push notifications, a native offline screen, deep links, a QR scanner and more – the native value reviewers at Google Play look for. Built by our own team, and we submit WebViewGold apps all the time.
Convert v0 to an Android app: what the job involves
To convert v0 to an Android app, you package the Next.js app that v0 deployed to Vercel into an Android project – either a WebView app that loads your production domain or a Trusted Web Activity – and publish it through your own Google Play Console. v0 has no Android export and no wrapper guidance; its docs cover deploying to Vercel, and that deployment is what your Android app will show.
The work splits into three parts: the web side on Vercel (domain, protection, asset links), the Android shell (native features, sign-in, billing) and Google Play's requirements (testing, API level, policies). Apple's side differs enough to deserve its own article – see converting v0 to iOS.
Trusted Web Activity or WebView for a Next.js app from v0?
Next.js has an official PWA guide – a manifest through app/manifest.ts, web push and install prompts – and v0 can generate those pieces for you. Once your app is a real PWA, a Trusted Web Activity becomes an option. The two Android routes compared:
| Criterion | Trusted Web Activity | WebView app with WebViewGold |
|---|---|---|
| Rendering | The user's browser, full screen | Android System WebView inside your app |
| What v0 must provide | An installable PWA plus assetlinks.json | The production URL; assetlinks.json recommended for App Links |
| If verification fails | Falls back to a Custom Tab with visible browser UI | Not applicable |
| Google sign-in | Works as in the browser | Must move to a Custom Tab or native sign-in |
| Native features | Web APIs only | Push, uploads with document scanner, biometrics, offline screen, native navigation |
| Digital goods | Google Play Billing needs extra web-side integration | Google Play Billing through a ready-made API (Extended license) |
| Tooling | Bubblewrap or PWABuilder | An Android Studio project or the Cloud Builder |
Choose the TWA if your v0 app already behaves like a good PWA and needs nothing beyond web APIs; our PWABuilder alternative comparison covers that tooling. Choose the WebView route when you want native features such as scanners, biometric unlock or Play Billing without writing Kotlin. Capacitor rarely fits a v0 project: it wants a static export, and that drops server actions, server-side cookies and request-based route handlers.

Groundwork on Vercel: domain, protection and asset links
- Use the production custom domain. Preview deployments carry unreviewed work, and generated deployment URLs freeze one old build. Under Vercel's Standard Protection, previews sit behind a Vercel login, so a reviewer who lands there sees no app at all. Never put the stricter All Deployments protection on the domain your app loads.
- Publish
assetlinks.json. Place it atpublic/.well-known/assetlinks.json– Next.js serves thepublicfolder from the site root – or return it from a route handler. It must list your package name and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the Play app signing key; Play Console shows the ready-made snippet on its App signing page. - Keep redirects away from it. Android's documentation requires the file to be reachable over HTTPS, as
application/jsonand "without any redirects". A proxy rule that forces a locale prefix, a login orwwwonto every path breaks verification. - Check environment variables. Production values for the production deployment, and nothing secret behind
NEXT_PUBLIC_– those values ship to every browser, including your app's WebView. - Remove the badge. Free-plan v0 deployments can show a "Built with v0" badge.
Play Console essentials for a first Android release
| Requirement | What Google asks for | Practical note for v0 teams |
|---|---|---|
| Developer account | A personal or organization account and a one-time registration fee; organizations need a D-U-N-S number | Publish under the business that runs the Vercel project |
| Closed test | Personal accounts created after November 13, 2023: at least 12 testers opted in for 14 consecutive days | Fixes you publish from v0 reach testers instantly – ship native builds during the test as well (see the closed testing guide) |
| App format | An Android App Bundle for new apps, required since August 2021 | Your wrapper project produces the AAB |
| Signing | Play App Signing plus your own upload key | Copy the Digital Asset Links snippet from the App signing page |
| Target API level | API level 36 for new apps and updates since August 31, 2026 | Test predictive back and edge-to-edge layouts (see the target API guide) |
| App access | Working credentials if parts of the app need a login | A review account with seeded data in Supabase, Neon or whatever database you connected |
Building the WebView app with WebViewGold for Android
WebViewGold for Android is an Android Studio project made by our own team – a one-time purchase with free updates, owned by you and published from your own Play Console. It works with any web app that runs in Chrome, which includes a v0 app on Vercel. Configure it in this order:
- Start URL: your production custom domain.
- Navigation: the built-in Material navigation drawer and Material 3 bottom bar, without changes to your Next.js code. Check that the back gesture walks back through your App Router pages before it leaves the app.
- Push: Firebase Cloud Messaging, OneSignal or Pushwoosh, sent from a route handler or server action. On Android 13 and later, the
POST_NOTIFICATIONSprompt should appear when it makes sense – WebViewGold'sregisterpush://link lets your web app pick the moment. - Uploads and downloads: file and camera uploads, including several files at once, and a document scanner that hands your upload field a PDF. The file downloader detects
Content-Dispositionheaders, so CSV and PDF exports from your route handlers land on the device. - App Links: links to your domain open the app once
assetlinks.jsonverifies. - Offline: a native offline screen with a "Try again" button through the Reconnect API.
- Extras that earn their place: fingerprint or face unlock through BiometricPrompt, Google Play's native review dialog, barcode and QR scanning and Firebase Crashlytics with opt-in.
Build a signed AAB and start with internal testing before the closed test. No Android Studio on your machine? WebViewGold's Cloud Builder builds in the browser, and our team offers a done-for-you setup.
The shortcut from v0 to Google Play
WebViewGold: your v0 app, native on Android
Instead of building native features from scratch, start from WebViewGold. You get ready-made Xcode and Android Studio projects for your website, with native modules you switch on in the configuration:
- Push notificationsOneSignal or Firebase, for real, personal events
- Native offline screenNo browser error pages when the connection drops
- Native splash screenApp-like start instead of a loading web page
- Deep linksLinks open the right screen inside the app
- QR & barcode scannerDevice features the website alone can't offer
- In-app purchasesNative purchase flows where the store requires them
No tool guarantees an approval: Google still judges what your app offers. Use the native features in your main user journey and keep proving that you own the website – our App Specialists review your WebViewGold app before it goes to Google Play.
Google sign-in, Stripe and Google Play Billing
Sign-in
Whatever auth your v0 app uses – Supabase Auth or another provider – a Google sign-in request from inside a WebView breaks Google's OAuth policy on embedded user-agents and fails with disallowed_useragent. Google recommends Custom Tabs on Android, and WebViewGold's googlelogin:// prefix opens the Google URL in a Chrome Custom Tab; your OAuth redirect then returns the user to the app. Register that redirect with your auth provider and test the round trip on a device. The alternative is native: Sign in with Google through Android's Credential Manager, which means custom code in the Android Studio project. In a TWA none of this is needed, because it already runs in the browser.
Payments
Stripe can stay for physical goods and services used outside the app. AI credits, premium plans and other digital goods sold inside the app generally need Google Play Billing; some regions offer alternative billing programs with their own conditions. WebViewGold's In-App Purchases API (Extended license) brings Play Billing to your web app and exposes the purchase history as window.purchaseHistory. Keep entitlements on your server so the Vercel app and the Android app agree. And if v0 created a Stripe test sandbox for you, claim it before publishing, as v0's Commerce mode prompts, so web checkouts run on an account you control.
Policy checks Google applies to a wrapped Next.js app
- Webviews and Affiliate Spam. Google rejects apps whose main purpose is to show a website without its owner's permission. Your own domain, matching developer details, a verified
assetlinks.jsonand real native features make ownership obvious – see the WebView spam guide. - Broken functionality. A Vercel login on a protected deployment, a failing server action or an upload field that does nothing all count. Test the Play-signed build from internal testing – see the broken functionality guide.
- Data safety. Declare what the app, its SDKs and the web content you control collect: account data in your database, analytics, push tokens and anything sent to AI model providers – see the Data safety guide.
- Account deletion. If people can sign up, they need a delete option in the app and a public web page – a Next.js route such as
/delete-accountworks – whose URL goes into the Data safety form. Details in the account deletion guide. - Consistency. Features that appear through flags or deployments after review cause trouble on both stores; our v0 Guideline 5.6 article explains how to keep releases honest.
Launch, updates and help with the Google Play side
When the closed test is complete, apply for production in Play Console. Google says reviews for certain developer accounts take more time and can reach seven days or longer in exceptional cases (Play Console Help). Roll out in stages and keep an eye on the pre-launch report and Android vitals.
After launch, every v0 deployment to production reaches Android users the moment it goes live. A new AAB with a higher versionCode is only needed for native changes – permissions, SDKs, modules, icon – and the Data safety form needs an update whenever data collection changes.
appsubmitter.io takes the Play Console work off your hands: a CI/CD pipeline for signed release AABs, upload key and Play App Signing, the store listing and Data safety form, closed-testing guidance, the production access application and the communication with the Google Play review team – all in your own account. Code changes, such as native Google sign-in, are quoted separately, and Google makes the final call. Book the Android package or start with a free consultation call.
Checklist before you submit
- The app loads the production custom domain – never a preview or generated deployment URL.
- Production isn't covered by All Deployments protection, so reviewers never see a Vercel login.
- assetlinks.json is served from /.well-known/ without redirects and lists the Play app signing fingerprint.
- Personal accounts: the closed test ran with at least 12 opted-in testers for 14 consecutive days.
- The signed AAB targets API level 36, and the back gesture and edge-to-edge layout were tested.
- Google sign-in runs in a Custom Tab or natively, never inside the WebView.
- Digital goods use Google Play Billing; Stripe only covers physical goods and services.
- The Data safety answers cover the app, its SDKs, the web content and any AI providers.
- Account deletion works in the app and through a public web page.
