Key takeaways
- Webflow has no app export or store publishing. Getting a Webflow site onto iPhones means a native wrapper around your published site, submitted in your own Apple Developer account.
- Apple rejects marketing sites in a frame under Guideline 4.2. Webflow publishers, catalogs, member areas, event sites and stores can qualify once the app adds push, offline reading and deep links.
- Prepare the Webflow side first: a paid Site plan with custom domain, no badge, a Premium plan for universal links and lighter interactions on mobile breakpoints.
- WebViewGold, built by our team, supplies the Xcode project and native modules; appsubmitter.io handles signing, listing, privacy details and the conversation with App Review.
Our recommended solution
Turn your Webflow app into a real iOS app with WebViewGold
WebViewGold wraps the Webflow web app you already have in a native Xcode project and adds push notifications, a native offline screen, deep links, a QR scanner and more – the native value reviewers at the App Store look for. Built by our own team, and we submit WebViewGold apps all the time.
Can you convert a Webflow site into an iOS app?
Yes, you can convert Webflow to an iOS app – just not inside Webflow. As of October 2026, Webflow builds and hosts websites but offers no app export and no App Store publishing. The working route is a native iOS shell that loads your published Webflow site, adds features a browser can't offer and is submitted from your own Apple Developer account.
The harder part is Apple's quality bar. Guideline 4.2 asks for "features, content, and UI that elevate it beyond a repackaged website", and 4.2.2 is blunter: "Other than catalogs, apps shouldn’t primarily be marketing materials, advertisements, web clippings, content aggregators, or a collection of links." Most Webflow sites are marketing sites, and wrapped unchanged they are exactly what those sentences describe. So before you open Xcode, decide what your app will do that your site in Safari doesn't.
Webflow's own app experiments don't change the picture. Its App Gen beta, launched in November 2025, is paused and being deprecated. Webflow Cloud can host full-stack apps built with frameworks such as Next.js or Astro, with SQLite, key-value and object storage – but that is still web code, and you would wrap it the same way.
Which Webflow projects can become a legitimate iOS app?
Whether a wrapped site passes review depends far more on the project than on the wrapper. This is how typical Webflow projects compare:
| Webflow project | Verdict | What makes it an app |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page, agency site, portfolio | Don't wrap it | Nothing – there is no recurring task for an app to support |
| Magazine, blog or knowledge base on the CMS | Good candidate | Push for new articles by topic, offline reading, native sharing, universal links from newsletters |
| Catalog of products, properties, vehicles or recipes | Good candidate – 4.2.2 names catalogs as the exception | Fast search, favorites, alerts when new items match |
| Member area via Memberstack or Outseta | Good if members return often | Face ID re-login, push for new member content, account deletion in the app |
| Event, conference or venue site | Good for recurring events | Schedule changes by push, QR check-in, the program available offline |
| Webflow Ecommerce store with physical goods | Good candidate | Order updates by push, shareable product links, a quick way back to the cart |
If your project sits in the first row, the honest options lie elsewhere: keep investing in the mobile website, or – if you need app features such as accounts and transactions – build that part with a tool or framework made for apps and keep Webflow for marketing. A progressive web app is the light alternative, but Webflow has no built-in PWA support; its /manifest.json is an internal routing file that Webflow describes as unrelated to PWAs.

Wrapper, code export, Webflow Cloud or native: the routes compared
| Route | What it means for a Webflow site | Strengths | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| WebView wrapper such as WebViewGold | A native Xcode project loads your custom domain and adds native modules | CMS, Ecommerce, forms and search keep working; content updates need no new build | Needs native value to pass 4.2; the app depends on the live site |
| Code export plus Capacitor | You export the site's HTML, CSS and JavaScript and bundle it | Assets ship inside the app | Export only on paid Workspace plans; CMS, Ecommerce and User Accounts aren't exported, forms and site search stop working |
| Webflow Cloud app, wrapped | A Next.js or Astro app hosted by Webflow, loaded in a native shell | Real application logic and your own data storage | A code project, not Designer work; on Starter and Basic plans it runs on webflow.io with the badge |
| Progressive web app | Visitors add the site to the Home Screen; web push works since iOS 16.4 | No App Review | No built-in Webflow support and no App Store presence |
| Native rebuild in SwiftUI | Native screens fed by Webflow's CMS API or your own backend | The best app experience | Highest effort and a second product to maintain |
For most Webflow teams, the wrapper is the realistic route because it keeps the editing workflow your marketing team already knows. The export route is listed mainly to show why it rarely fits: it loses precisely the dynamic parts that make a Webflow site worth an app.
What you need before you start
- An Apple Developer Program membership as an individual or organization, in the name of the business behind the site. Agencies should publish in the client's account – Guideline 4.2.6 rejects template apps submitted on someone else's behalf (see 4.2.6 for WebView apps).
- A Mac with Xcode – or WebViewGold's Cloud Builder, sold separately, which configures, builds and uploads the app in the browser.
- A paid Webflow Site plan with your custom domain. The app should never load
webflow.io, and a paid plan lets you remove the "Made in Webflow" badge, which is on by default. - A Premium Site plan or higher if you want universal links: Webflow serves
.well-knownfiles such asapple-app-site-associationonly on those plans and only on a custom domain. - Privacy policy and support pages on the site, ready to link in App Store Connect.
- Content that justifies push – an editorial calendar, events or orders. Without it, notifications turn into marketing blasts.
Prepare your Webflow site for life inside an app
- Treat the mobile portrait breakpoint as the app's design. Navigation within thumb reach, tap targets of a usable size and no menus that depend on hover.
- Add an app mode. WebViewGold can send a custom user agent. A short script in your site-wide custom code adds a class to the page when it sees that marker, and your styles hide the navbar, footer, cookie bar, badge and any "Get it on Google Play" badge – which would otherwise invite a Guideline 2.3.10 rejection. Change presentation only, never which features exist.
- Slim down interactions. Scroll-triggered animations, heavy GSAP timelines and large Lottie files can stutter in WKWebView on older iPhones. Simplify them on mobile breakpoints and test on the oldest device you support.
- Mind the notch. Fixed navbars and sticky bottom bars must clear the status bar and the home indicator – check them in the app, not only in a desktop browser's responsive mode.
- Decide where links go. Your own pages stay in the app; maps, social profiles and third-party booking tools open outside it.
- Check forms. Contact and newsletter forms keep working because the site is live; file-upload fields need camera and photo-library purpose strings in the app.
The shortcut from Webflow to the App Store
WebViewGold: your Webflow app, native on iOS
Instead of building native features from scratch, start from WebViewGold. You get ready-made Xcode and Android Studio projects for your website, with native modules you switch on in the configuration:
- Push notificationsOneSignal or Firebase, for real, personal events
- Native offline screenNo browser error pages when the connection drops
- Native splash screenApp-like start instead of a loading web page
- Deep linksLinks open the right screen inside the app
- QR & barcode scannerDevice features the website alone can't offer
- In-app purchasesNative purchase flows where the store requires them
No tool guarantees an approval: Apple still judges what your app offers. Use the native features in your main user journey – our App Specialists review your WebViewGold app before it goes to the App Store.
Convert Webflow to an iOS app with WebViewGold, step by step
WebViewGold is the website-to-app solution built by our own team, and Webflow is one of the platforms it explicitly supports. You get a ready-made Xcode project in Swift, pay once and publish in your own account; the Extended license is required if you sell In-App Purchases.
- Set the start URL in
Config.swiftto your custom domain – the page the app opens on, without redirects. - Turn on push with OneSignal, Firebase or Pushwoosh. Webflow webhooks such as
collection_item_createdandecomm_order_changedcan feed a small automation that sends the right message to the right audience. - Add offline behavior: the native offline screen, plus locally bundled HTML for pages people need without signal – an event program, opening hours, a help page.
- Connect universal links through the Associated Domains capability and the
apple-app-site-associationfile you uploaded to Webflow, so links in newsletters open the matching screen in the app. - Pick the device features that fit your project: the QR and barcode scanner for tickets or check-in, Face ID for member areas, the native share dialog for articles and products, Apple's in-app rating dialog.
- Brand it with app icon, splash screen, pull-to-refresh and dark mode.
- Test through TestFlight on a real iPhone and iPad – signed in and signed out, online and in Airplane Mode.
Sign-in, payments and privacy in a Webflow app
Member login
Webflow sunset its native User Accounts on January 29, 2026 and recommends Outseta or Memberstack instead. Email and password sign-in through those tools works inside the app. Google login doesn't: Google has blocked its OAuth pages in embedded web views since September 30, 2021 (error disallowed_useragent). Handle it in this order of preference:
- Native sign-in. Run Google login through
ASWebAuthenticationSessionor Google's Sign-In SDK for iOS. That is custom native code in the Xcode project – WebViewGold's, for example – and a customization you can have quoted if you don't write Swift. - Keep Google on the web. In the app, offer email and password (and Sign in with Apple where your member tool provides it), and leave the Google button to your website.
- Hand off to Safari only as a last resort. It satisfies Google, but Apple says linking out to the default browser to sign in or register "provides a poor user experience and isn't appropriate, per App Review Guideline 4" (Apple Developer).
Whenever Google is a way into the main account, Guideline 4.8 asks for an equivalent privacy-friendly option such as Sign in with Apple. And if people can create an account in the app, Guideline 5.1.1(v) requires account deletion inside the app.
Payments
Webflow Ecommerce takes payments through Stripe and PayPal, with Apple Pay and Google Pay via Stripe. For physical goods and services used outside the app, Guideline 3.1.3(e) says you must use purchase methods other than in-app purchase – your existing checkout is the right tool. Courses, memberships and other digital content are a different matter: Guideline 3.1.1 generally requires In-App Purchase, which WebViewGold supports through StoreKit. Our article on 3.1.1 for WebView apps covers the edge cases.
App Privacy details
Everything your site collects inside the app counts: form fields, member data and every analytics, marketing or chat script in your custom code. Declare it in App Store Connect, and check whether any of it tracks people across apps and websites – that requires App Tracking Transparency.
Submitting the Webflow app – and the rejections to expect
Create the app record in App Store Connect, upload the build and prepare screenshots that show the app's own features rather than your homepage hero. In the Notes for Review, provide a demo member with a password, list each native feature with test steps and state that the app displays your Webflow site on your own domain.
| Guideline | Typical Webflow trigger | Where to read more |
|---|---|---|
| 4.2 / 4.2.2 Minimum Functionality | A marketing site with a splash screen | 4.2 for WebView apps |
| 4.3 Spam | An agency wraps several client sites built from one template | 4.3 for WebView apps |
| 5.6 Developer Code of Conduct | New sections published after approval, claims the app can't back up | Webflow and Guideline 5.6 |
| 2.1 App Completeness | A member wall the reviewer can't pass, empty CMS lists | Demo member and seeded content |
| 4.8 and 5.1.1(v) | Google-only login, no deletion in the app | See the sign-in notes above |

This is where appsubmitter.io takes over: we set up certificates, provisioning and a CI/CD pipeline in your own Apple Developer account, prepare the listing and App Privacy details, run AI-powered pre-submission checks with an App Specialist on top, write the review notes and handle the communication with App Review. Your app doesn't have to be finished when you book, and changes to your site or code are quoted separately upfront. Book the iOS submission or start with a free consultation call.
Checklist before you submit
- The app has a job beyond the website – content, catalog, members, events or orders – and you can name it in one sentence.
- The build loads your custom domain on a paid Site plan, and the "Made in Webflow" badge is removed.
- If you use universal links, apple-app-site-association is uploaded via Webflow's .well-known support (Premium plan or higher).
- App mode hides navbar, footer, cookie bar and store badges via a custom user agent – presentation only.
- Heavy interactions are simplified on mobile breakpoints and tested on an older iPhone.
- Push notifications are wired to real events such as new CMS items or order updates.
- Airplane Mode shows a native offline screen, and key pages are bundled locally.
- Members sign in inside the app; Google login, if offered there, runs natively (ASWebAuthenticationSession or Google's SDK) next to Sign in with Apple.
- Digital content uses In-App Purchase; physical goods keep the Webflow Ecommerce checkout.
- App Privacy details cover forms, the membership tool and every script in custom code.
