Key takeaways
- Appilix is quick and inexpensive: one-time payments per app and platform, a 15-day trial, iOS builds without a Mac and optional submission by its team.
- Its apps load your live website; Appilix's FAQ says they can't display content when the site is down or the user is offline.
- WebViewGold, made by our team, adds a native offline fallback, bundles local HTML on iOS and comes as Xcode and Android Studio projects you own.
- Switch without a new listing by keeping the bundle ID, package name and Android upload key – and decide who submits future updates.
Our recommended solution
Looking for an Appilix alternative? Meet WebViewGold
WebViewGold turns your website or web app into native iOS and Android projects for a one-time price – with push notifications, a native offline screen, deep links, a QR scanner, in-app purchases and more. You own the projects and publish in your own developer accounts. Built by our own team.
Do you need an Appilix alternative? The two-minute answer
You need an Appilix alternative if your app must work offline, if you want the native source code or if you plan to grow the app beyond a website wrapper. If you need a simple, low-cost app for a site that is always online, Appilix may be all you need: it is cheap to start and requires no Mac.
Appilix is a no-code converter based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, founded in 2021. You enter a website URL, configure the app and download the Android builds, while the iOS app is built on Appilix's servers and uploaded to App Store Connect for you. The product relaunched as Appilix v2 in June 2026 with a new dashboard, Google in-app purchases and a dynamic app icon, followed by "AI Brand Setup" in July and AdMob EU consent in September, according to its changelog. Customers rate it 4.8 out of 5 from 88 reviews on Trustpilot (as of October 2026).
Below, we compare Appilix with WebViewGold – the website-to-app product built by our own team – and two other builders, and show what changes when offline use and ownership matter.
How Appilix works: trial, one-time plans, paid publishing
- Trial. 15 days free. Afterwards, the FAQ says, "the app will still open but prompt users to upgrade".
- Plans. Standard and Premium are one-time payments per app and platform, with combo packs for both platforms and custom Enterprise development. Paid plans remove the Appilix branding.
- Publishing. Apps go out under your own developer accounts. On Premium, the Appilix team sets up the store listing and handles the submission using your account. The separate publishing service is paid per use and, per the FAQ, needed again when you push future updates.
- Google Play testers. A "12 Testers" service helps with Google's testing requirement for new personal accounts.
- Builds. APK and AAB downloads for Android; for iOS, "you don't need a Mac or Apple device".
- Signing. The Android keystore is generated for you, or you upload your existing
.jksfile – handy when you move an existing app to Appilix. - Features. Firebase push with targeting, bottom navigation, drawer and native app bar, AdMob banners and interstitials, biometrics, QR scanner, deep links, location, Google Sign-In, Apple and Google in-app purchases, AppsFlyer, the Meta SDK, App Tracking Transparency and custom CSS and JavaScript.
For many small businesses and bloggers, that is a complete package. What it doesn't advertise is offline content and a source code export.

The offline question: what users see without a connection
Appilix's FAQ is upfront about it: "If your website is down or the user is offline, the app will not be able to display content." That is the nature of a live-site wrapper – the app is a window onto your website.
Whether it matters depends on your users. A restaurant menu checked at home rarely suffers. A field-service checklist, an event guide in a crowded hall or a course used on the train does. It matters for review, too: a blank or error screen without a connection is one of the clearest signs of a repackaged website, which Guideline 4.2 asks apps to rise above.
| Offline approach | What users see offline | Where you find it |
|---|---|---|
| Live-site wrapper only | No content | Appilix, as described in its FAQ |
| Native offline screen | A native screen instead of an error page – with a reconnect option on Android in WebViewGold | WebViewGold (iOS and Android); Webtonative's no-internet screen |
| Bundled local HTML | Real pages shipped inside the app, usable without a connection | WebViewGold on iOS |
| Caching | Recently loaded content, depending on the setup | WebsiteToApp.app (offline mode and caching); Webtonative (iOS offline persistence on Pro) |
The strongest setup combines them: bundle the screens that must always work, show a native offline screen everywhere else and load live content whenever there is a connection.

Review risks for quick website-to-app wrappers
Quick wrappers are quick for everyone, which is why reviewers look closely at them. These risks apply to Appilix and its alternatives alike:
- Apple Guideline 4.2. A live website with a bottom navigation bar can still read as a repackaged website. Put native features in the main journey and avoid a dead screen offline – see Guideline 4.2 for WebView apps and our minimum functionality guide.
- Apple Guideline 4.3. Wrappers share layouts: the same drawer, tab bar and splash style across many apps. Make design and content unmistakably yours, and don't publish one app per city or branch – Guideline 4.3 for WebView apps explains why.
- Apple Guideline 4.2.6. Template apps are acceptable when the content provider submits them. Appilix's Premium submission uses your developer account, which is the right setup.
- Google Play Webviews spam. Wrap only sites you own or have written permission for, and make your developer details match the domain – the WebView spam policy guide shows how to prove it.
- Google Play limited functionality. Google doesn't allow "apps that only have limited functionality and content" and names apps that are "static without app-specific functionalities" as an example.
- The tester requirement. New personal Play accounts need at least 12 testers opted in for 14 consecutive days before production – the closed testing guide explains how to meet it with real testers.
Our recommended alternative
WebViewGold: native iOS and Android apps from your website
Instead of building native features from scratch, start from WebViewGold. You get ready-made Xcode and Android Studio projects for your website, with native modules you switch on in the configuration:
- Push notificationsOneSignal or Firebase, for real, personal events
- Native offline screenNo browser error pages when the connection drops
- Native splash screenApp-like start instead of a loading web page
- Deep linksLinks open the right screen inside the app
- QR & barcode scannerDevice features the website alone can't offer
- In-app purchasesNative purchase flows where the store requires them
No tool guarantees an approval: Apple still judges what your app offers. Use the native features in your main user journey – our App Specialists review your WebViewGold app before it goes to the App Store.
When Appilix is the better choice
- Your budget is small and your site is always online – a blog, a local business or a content site where offline use never comes up.
- You have no Mac and no developer. Appilix builds the iOS app on its servers and uploads it to App Store Connect.
- You want monetization out of the box. AdMob with EU consent, Apple and Google in-app purchases and ATT are part of the feature list.
- You want submission done for you and accept paying for it again with each update – or you choose Premium, where the team handles listing and submission.
- You want to test cheaply. The 15-day trial shows whether your site works as an app before you pay.
When WebViewGold is worth the extra setup
WebViewGold is made by our team, so take this as our view – with concrete reasons:
- Offline matters. The native offline fallback replaces error pages, and on iOS local HTML bundling ships pages inside the app – or the whole app, if
Config.swiftpoints to a local HTML folder instead of a URL. - You want the project. You receive a Swift project for Xcode and an Android Studio project, once, with free updates. A developer can extend them years from now without asking anyone.
- You need more than a wrapper feature list. VisionKit document scanning, NFC tag reading, Widget and Share Extensions, App Clip, Siri integration, AirPrint, Picture-in-Picture and background audio on iOS; Health Connect and biometric authentication on Android.
- You still don't want to build it yourself. The separately sold Cloud Builder builds and uploads in the browser, and the done-for-you setup leaves the configuration to our team.
No tool can promise an approval, and WebViewGold asks for more decisions than a URL-to-app form. In return, you control the app. Take a look at WebViewGold if offline use or ownership tipped the balance.
How to switch from Appilix to WebViewGold step by step
- Confirm you own the accounts. Appilix publishes under your own developer accounts; make sure you are Account Holder at Apple and owner of the Play Console account.
- Locate the Android keystore. If you uploaded your own
.jksto Appilix, you already have it. If Appilix generated it, ask whether you can download it. If not, request an upload key reset in Play Console as the account owner – with Play App Signing, Google keeps the app signing key. - Reuse the bundle ID and package name in the WebViewGold projects, so the new builds update your existing listings.
- Design the offline experience. Decide which pages to bundle on iOS and how the offline fallback should look on both platforms.
- Move push, purchases and ads. Keep your Firebase project – WebViewGold supports Firebase, OneSignal and Pushwoosh. In-app purchase products stay in App Store Connect and Play Console (StoreKit and Play Billing need the Extended license), and AdMob is supported as well.
- Replace Google Sign-In deliberately. Google forbids its OAuth in embedded user-agents. On iOS, build it with
ASWebAuthenticationSessionor Google's native SDK as custom code, or offer email and password plus Sign in with Apple, which WebViewGold detects automatically; on Android, use Custom Tabs or Credential Manager. - Update the privacy forms. Dropping AppsFlyer or the Meta SDK, or adding new SDKs, changes your App Privacy details and Data safety answers.
- Test and submit as an update with higher version numbers, then remove the credentials you set up for Appilix's iOS upload.
How appsubmitter.io helps on either route
Appilix's publishing service is paid per use, and WebViewGold leaves submission to you – appsubmitter.io covers that step for both. Our App Specialists set up signing and CI/CD in your own developer accounts, write the listing, complete the App Privacy details and the Data safety form – including SDKs such as AdMob, AppsFlyer or the Meta SDK – submit the app and handle the replies to Apple and Google. AI-powered pre-submission checks flag guideline risks first; code changes are quoted separately and upfront.
Staying with Appilix? We can prepare listings and privacy forms or help after a rejection. Switching? We ship the WebViewGold build as an update to your current listings. Book appsubmitter.io for iOS and Android or start with a free consultation call.
Checklist: choosing your website-to-app route
- Test your app in airplane mode and decide which screens must work offline.
- Check whether you have your Android keystore or need an upload key reset.
- Decide who submits future updates: a per-use publishing service, your own team or a submission service.
- List every SDK in the app – AdMob, AppsFlyer, Meta, Firebase – for the privacy forms.
- Reuse the existing bundle ID and package name when you replace the app.
- Make design and content your own to avoid look-alike template apps.
- Confirm the website you wrap is yours and matches your developer details.
