Key takeaways
- AppsGeyser is free and quick for Android hobby apps, but its own ads run in every app by default; its knowledge base says removing them takes the Master plan (as of October 2026).
- iOS isn't part of the builder: AppsGeyser offers an iPhone version only as a separate paid conversion service.
- Publish under your own Google Play account: the listing, ratings and policy standing stay with you, and Google's WebView permission test is easiest to pass when site and account share an owner.
- WebViewGold, made by our team, gives you Xcode and Android Studio projects for a one-time license – with no third-party ads unless you add your own.
Our recommended solution
Looking for an AppsGeyser alternative? Meet WebViewGold
WebViewGold turns your website or web app into native iOS and Android projects for a one-time price – with push notifications, a native offline screen, deep links, a QR scanner, in-app purchases and more. You own the projects and publish in your own developer accounts. Built by our own team.
AppsGeyser alternative: the quick answer
The best AppsGeyser alternative depends on why you're leaving. If AppsGeyser's ads, the missing iOS export or publishing outside your own account hold you back, look for a tool built around your brand and your accounts. WebViewGold covers iOS and Android with native projects you own; PWABuilder and WebsiteToApp.app are lighter options if Android is enough.
AppsGeyser is run by Toolbarstudio Inc., a Virginia company based in Alexandria, and launched on January 25, 2011. The free app maker converts websites, HTML – including AI-generated HTML – and templates such as messenger or VPN apps into Android apps, delivered as APK and AAB with access to the full HTML source. Premium subscriptions (Starter, Individual, Master) unlock extras, and paid services cover publishing, an iOS conversion and custom source code. For hobbyists, students and anyone testing an idea, that's a generous deal – it just fits less well once the app carries your brand.
Signs you have outgrown AppsGeyser
As of October 2026, AppsGeyser's own pages describe these trade-offs:
- Ads you didn't choose. Its knowledge base states: "AppsGeyser runs ads in all apps created on our platform by default." The terms describe the free service as offered in exchange for letting AppsGeyser insert banner or other ads. You can add your own AdMob, Appodeal or Appnext ads – then "50% of the ads displayed would be from your account" – but only once the app is live on Google Play.
- Ad-free means the top plan. Per the knowledge base, removing AppsGeyser's ads requires the Master plan.
- No iPhone app in the builder. There's no one-click iOS export; an iOS version is a separate paid conversion service.
- Features tied to premium. Push via OneSignal, Firebase analytics and a custom splash screen are premium features, and in-app purchase volume is metered: one free purchase, then paid packages. Cancel premium, and the app keeps working without those features.
- Whose account? You can self-publish in your own Google Play account, but the paid publishing service publishes "on either your own or our Google Play Developer account", and the terms reserve the option of using AppsGeyser's accounts.
Not sure which tool fits your app? Ask an App Specialist – for free.
In a free consultation call we look at your website or web app and tell you honestly which route fits – WebViewGold, a framework or a native build – and what it takes to get through review. Prefer to hand it off? We set up signing and CI/CD and submit the app for you.
Why should your app live in your own Google Play account?
The account an app is published from decides more than the developer name on the listing:
- Ownership. Package name, ratings, reviews, installs and statistics live in the publishing account. Moving them later takes Google's app transfer process, which the current owner must start and the receiving account must accept.
- The permission test. Google Play's spam policy bans apps whose primary purpose is to provide "a webview of a website without permission from the website owner or administrator". When your own account publishes your own domain, with matching developer name, email and website, the connection is obvious – our WebView spam guide lists the signals.
- Account standing. AppsGeyser's knowledge base reminds creators that repeated violations can lead to a Google Play account suspension. In your own account, that standing depends only on your apps.
- Responsibility. Privacy policy, Data safety answers and support contact belong to the business behind the website.
Apple applies the same logic: under Guideline 4.2.6, template-built apps must be submitted by the provider of the content, so an iPhone version belongs in your own Apple Developer account, whoever builds it.

Google Play policies that template-built apps run into
Google reviews the app, not the tool behind it. Template-built and website apps should plan for these rules:
- Repetitive Content. Google's spam policy rejects "apps that merely provide the same experience as other apps already on Google Play". A template thousands of creators use – a messenger shell, a VPN starter – needs your own content and functions.
- Limited functionality. Apps that are "static without app-specific functionalities" fail Google's functionality rules. Push for real events, offline access or scanning give a website app a reason to exist.
- Ads and data. If the app shows ads – AppsGeyser's or your own – the Ads declaration in Play Console must say so, and the data that ad and analytics SDKs collect belongs in the Data safety form (Data safety guide).
- Listing details. AppsGeyser's knowledge base names developer name, icons, copyrighted content and targeting children as common rejection reasons – see our metadata policy guide.
- Technical gates. Since August 31, 2026, new apps and updates must target Android 16 (API level 36), and new personal developer accounts need a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days – see the closed testing guide.
An iOS version adds Apple's rules: more than a repackaged website (4.2) and no look-alike apps (4.3 for WebView apps).
Our recommended alternative
WebViewGold: native iOS and Android apps from your website
Instead of building native features from scratch, start from WebViewGold. You get ready-made Xcode and Android Studio projects for your website, with native modules you switch on in the configuration:
- Push notificationsOneSignal or Firebase, for real, personal events
- Native offline screenNo browser error pages when the connection drops
- Native splash screenApp-like start instead of a loading web page
- Deep linksLinks open the right screen inside the app
- QR & barcode scannerDevice features the website alone can't offer
- In-app purchasesNative purchase flows where the store requires them
No tool guarantees an approval: Apple still judges what your app offers. Use the native features in your main user journey – our App Specialists review your WebViewGold app before it goes to the App Store.
When AppsGeyser is still the right tool
- Hobby and learning projects. A free builder that turns a site or a bit of HTML into an installable Android app is ideal for experiments and classrooms.
- AI-generated mini apps. If you generate HTML with an AI tool and want to see it on a phone today, AppsGeyser is quick, and you keep access to the HTML.
- Monetization without a budget. Built-in ad monetization lets creators earn from an app that cost nothing to make.
- Android-only audiences. If nobody asks for an iPhone version, the missing iOS export doesn't matter.
The moment the app represents a business – your brand in the store, your customers' data, your reputation – the trade-offs above start to weigh more than the free price.
WebViewGold for brands that need iOS, no platform ads and their own listings
WebViewGold is the website-to-app solution built by our own team, so read this as our recommendation, not a neutral review. It targets exactly what brands outgrow:
- Both platforms. A ready-made Xcode project in Swift and an Android Studio project, published in your own developer accounts.
- No platform ads. Nothing is inserted into your app. For ad revenue, enable AdMob – or Facebook Audience Network on iOS – with your own account.
- HTML apps welcome. Besides a URL, WebViewGold can bundle a local HTML folder, so the HTML source you can access in AppsGeyser – AI-generated or not – can move into a native project.
- Purposeful native features. Push via OneSignal, Firebase or Pushwoosh, an offline fallback, QR scanning, biometrics, NFC, Google Play Billing, the Play review dialog and App Links on Android; Face ID, StoreKit, widgets and App Clips on iOS.
- Paid once. A one-time Regular or Extended license (Extended for in-app purchases) with free updates.
Without a Mac, the separately sold Cloud Builder builds and uploads in the browser, and our team offers a done-for-you setup. No tool can promise an approval, but you start from native groundwork in an account you control.
Switching from AppsGeyser: keep the listing or start fresh?
Where your app is published today decides the path.
The app is in your own Google Play account
- Note the package name, the current
versionCodeand your listing details. - Build the WebViewGold Android project with the same package name and a higher
versionCode, pointing at your URL or your HTML files. - Check signing. Apps uploaded as App Bundles use Play App Signing, so Google holds the app signing key. If you lack the upload key behind earlier uploads, the account owner or an admin can request an upload key reset in Play Console.
- Update the Ads declaration and the Data safety form to match the new build, which no longer contains AppsGeyser's ads, then release after an internal test.
The app is in AppsGeyser's account
Ask AppsGeyser to move it through Google Play's app transfer process. Both accounts must be registered and active, and the transfer carries users, ratings and reviews along. If that isn't possible, publish the WebViewGold app as a new listing with a new package name in your own account and point existing users to it – new personal accounts must pass the closed test first.
Adding iOS
Create the app record in your own Apple Developer account. If an iPhone version already exists in someone else's account, Apple's App Transfer moves it with its bundle ID, ratings and reviews – the sending Account Holder starts it, the receiving one accepts.
